New Assigning Policy Instituted for Winter/Spring Seasons...

February 4, 2004  New assigning policy instituted for Winter/Spring seasons…

Because a significant amount of time will now be required by the assignors to provide the Leagues with weekly information as to which referees are assigned to what fields, a corresponding time saving must be afforded to the them by reducing the amount of time they need when giving out game assignments, club contact points and field directions to referees.  Referees will now get their club contacts and field directions via the web and/or by email from the clubs.

Here’s how it will work – The assignor will inform you of the club as well as the level of matches assigned to you on that day (U14 Olympic, U13 S Continental, etc.).  These assignments will continue to be made over the phone but this information may be exchanged via email or the web in the very near future. With the Club name, you will access the Club Contact List and either call or email the individual informing him/her of the assignment and request information as to which field will be used for your assigned match.  The Club Rep will be required to call you back if you leave a message with your phone number.  When in contact, he/she may give you directions if you are unsure of the field location or may refer you to the Club Field Directions site on the web. You will also note a link to MAPQUEST – We will be getting proximity street addresses of the fields that will allow you to print a map and driving directions (work in progress).

It is recommended that you make your contact with the Club Representative via email so a record of contact can be shown in case of misinformation being received and/or to cross document assignments, in case of team no-shows for restitution by the League.

Referees must never assume they know where a team/club is playing and not initiate contact with the Club Rep. CALL or EMAIL and keep a copy of the message on your computer.

There may be problems with the League published telephone or email addresses of the Club Reps. If you find that you cannot make contact, send an email to refcommchair@comcast.net with ALL the particulars.  Response will be by email and not by phone.  You may also contact the appropriate Games Commissioner by accessing SJSL.ORG or SJGSL.ORG and going to the appropriate Contact List area. Fines may be levied against clubs whose web information has not been maintained in a timely manner.
